I was using some files yesterday --- and got to thinking to myself about what an underrated tool they are! I (and this will be a big statement) don't think 90% of the people picking one up, know how to use them properly.

I was taught by a guy that did pick and file work - and lead work - at my first job at Gateway Body and Fender... when I was 13.

I learned from my machine tool program at Athens Tech when I was still wandering around not wanting to be in a traditional class room. I see people grab files and just start going back and forth with them. I try to tell them on go forward only and get this are you crazy look as a response.

Life is like that though and everyone learns differently and at different time. As you and Al have mentioned, these brothers haven't done anything like this before and that's part of the story. Quite possibly to coolest part of the story. I think I'd be sure to have that in part of the write up/display information. I think it might help encourage people young and old. Be sure to let us know when the car's going to be featured in the magazines as I'm sure it will be.

I remember at School, then we got an Iron "cut-off" each, that we could only use a file to make a certain length and be perfectly square before we could move on, then we had to mill it according to blueprints in a "stair-pattern" and then drill/mill holes With specific Width, lengths, depths and such. When done, it was over to the lathe Good way to learn the basics and train, now I dont know anything.. Ha..Ha..

Quick update, trunk, interior cabin, floor pan and engine bay are done in the gun metal.



She was dropped yesterday to get the custom exterior finished. As you can see G5.R is in good company (Two Bentleys in front and a Merc on the side) These guys specialize in Bentleys, Rolls and all the other exotics. The funny thing is that they were all exited about the American iron project, LOL.

Wayne, good idea, I will post some before pics as there's a lot of work that went into the engine bay which would go unnoticed unless pointed out.

Have a set of Forgeline track wheels being cut for the track. BBS are very nice but are a bit too heavy at 29lbs a piece for track use. 20 by 10.5 all the way around and will make for a good street package.

The new Forgelines are 19 by 11 square set up with very aggressive fitment. These are about 9 lbs. lighter than the BBS per corner, and a crazy 12lbs(front) and 16lbs (rear) lighter than stock each! They will also be able to rotate them from front to back extending tire life. Tire selection is looking like the Toyo R888 305 all around.
