Here's how this story ended. I went with Montway as I stated before. When they found a truck for me they ran my card for a larger deposit than I had been lead to believe. I complained and they made it right PLUS they gave me a $50 gift card to a restaurant.

Friday:
They assigned David at Cautious and Steady Transport to the job. Montway didn't communicate my somewhat limited availability to the driver so we had a couple hoops to jump through to make our schedules align. David also got a flat tire on his rig which made his day quite an adventure. This is par for the course with anything I am involved in it seems.

In the end David sent his son to meet me in the evening when I was available. I put the car in the driveway of my storage garage, gave him the keys, and signed all the paperwork. (I also gave his son a pile of crap '75 Yamaha dirt bike that I was trying to figure out how to get rid of. Double Win!) David then came by later in the night and picked up the car. His communication was constant throughout the process and I felt fine about the whole thing.

Saturday Evening (the day after my dad's birthday):
My dad and my younger sister, who was visiting for his birthday the day before, try to talk the driver into giving them the '57 Chevy on the top. No dice. But, they did receive the Toronado and my dad was near tears to see it again.

So that's my story and, in all, I think it's a happy one.

Finally!!! A happy ending for all!!!!

I'm going through this right now, I'm planning on picking up a shell on a dolley in Oregon and no one will do it cause of the dolly and extra parts involved. What a PITA!
I just dont have the time to load up my trailer and not to mention the gas. Probably looking at a grand round trip.

Seems like a pretty decent deal, less than a buck a mile (after the gift card) for a relatively short haul.

Guys were scaring me for a minute with $800-$1200 guesses.

Yeah, it only cost me $1700 to ship from Hawaii to Oklahoma. Glad things worked out for you.
