Default 69 Camaro fuel pump mounting location?

Hey everyone,

I have a 69 Camaro with a carbureted zz502 and wondering where most of the group with the first gen F-bodys is mounting their electric external fuel pumps? (Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn’t find any previous discussions on it.) Currently I have my fuel pump located pretty close to the rear axle attached to the bottom of the trunk pan in front of the fuel tank. Right now I am running an external pump “Edelbrock 1792”. I seem to be getting a lot of bad primes from the pump. One minute it is running a solid 7psi and then it can’t get over 2-3psi. Seems like vapor lock. Just wondering if it might be my mounting location hurting the fuel prime since I can’t really find a location lower than the tank to mount it. Thanks for any tips or suggestions.
