The LS1 pulley system is just a nice compact unit. The vette unit tosses the alternator up high and to the side and I don't like that look as much. I want the accesories to be low-key.

The downside to the f-body system is AC. It wants the AC compressor on the lower passengers side of the engine, but most subframes don't want it there.

I also like using OEM pulley systems. They can look nice if worked with and they are a proven design. I also never have to worry about replacement parts. The balancer in an SFI ATI unit without the part for AC. It has the right alignment for the LS1 stuff and it only weighs 4.5 lbs.

It's a Powermaster alternator but it's dimensionally identical to an LS1 alt.
