Silver is a non-color. Very conservative and safe. There is nothing wrong with that. Just be sure that words like "conservative and safe" are in line with your goals. If your goals are not clear, define them with words like vintage vs modern, stealth, flashy, subtle, dramatic, colorful, racy, industrial, euro, punk, street rod and my personal favorite: post-apocolyptic.

Define your goals without naming a single color. Your goals will help you define more than just color. Other parameters such as wheel selection, engine dress up, steering wheel and gauge selection, seat type and upholstery, and of course striping will also fall into place.
