Is there alternative routes to take instead of a power rack-and-pinion to achieve similar handling and steering?

Thanks guys, I went to unisteer website and found all the other questions I had. Thanks for directing me to the right place; looks like they have everything I need.

Check out DSE and ATS for your suspension/steering needs. If you want to update your stock subframe. You could always get into the aftermarket frames.
