I've used and owned a few of the 1000-1250lb models in the past. They did OK - meaning just that that they didn't fail - but I never liked the way the big block seemed to sag on the stand. I recently purchased the 2000lb model and like it much much better. I haven't had any issues and feel a lot more confident about having the engine hung on there.

Unfortunately I don't think you'll find too many made in the US anymore. Most all of them are imported it seems.

Same one I have but it's harbor freight. Held my fully dressed big block for a long time.

Same place I got my engine stand and hoist. Both are holding up fine and the price was right. They are local so I did not have to pay shipping.

Just make sure it has 4 wheels. The 3 wheelers like to tip...
