I dont know, I said this same thing in a reply on another auto based website and the person looking claimed he was having a real hard time finding "qualified" people that could step right in and get it done?

Anyways, good luck, I hope you are able to put someone to work, or back to work.

That is kind of my hope, If I was just looking for a Welder that would be pretty easy until the oil Industry comes back, then they would go make 45 bucks an hour welding oil field pipe. I need a guy that due to the passion in his life this is what he has to do, or he would go crazy.

I have always thought if I can build our reputation to a level we can actually charge for each an every hour and charge for the amount of tools this business requires in our hourly rate. I would then be able to attract people who own other shops to come move under one roof and then take over the world. That would be the way to get the truly talented guys that might have their own small shops, pay them what they are worth and they don't have to deal with the headaches of running a business.

Amen brother !!!!

Let's figure out how to build a bullet train like in Japan that goes from Chatsworth to Bakersfield and I will gladly move under one roof.

There's certainly nothing in the "middle"!!

Think of the synergies that could be had with the "under one roof" scenario... overhead is the big monkey on the back of most all "small business" -- bookeeping - phones - lights - rent/payments on the "shed".... even shared trailer or "gopher"/parts chaser/shop truck.

I owned a business in New York City - with 29 employees.... managing them was the biggest PITA of my entire business. But my old saying was "I'd have a really nice business... if it wasn't for those damn customers!" That - and I had a sign on my desk as a reminder... "Try not to let the urgent get in the way of the important". When you think about that - it's very true.

BTW -- I think we should all just move to Woodland -- and use Charley's shops for free... think of the fun we could have!

Well where are they ? I could use a good sheetmetal/Tig man myself.

I'm in the same boat as Roger. Just on a smaller scale. Trying to find someone w/talent, good mind set, and work ethic is worse odds than winning the lottery.
