Maybe its just me, and I have only seen the thing in pictures, but the '54 Vette does absolutely nothing for me. It appears to have no presence. Like I said, I have only seen it in pictures and have not seen it in person. That thought might change if I was standing in front of it, but it doesn't look like it has any attitude. I think it might have something to do with it not having any trim that shines. Just my opinion...and thats all it is.

I thought the same thing when I saw it in the pictures. It really looked like a stock Vette with big wheels and lowered stance. This weekend I saw it at the show and the car was incredible. I couldn't get over how aggressive it looked. It should have been in the top 5 like everyone else says. Other than that I agree with the choices goodguys made

I think that's what I love about it. It looks like it was lowered, shaved, and painted, with some big wheels tucked under it. The truth is, there's a ton of work in it. It's sinister looking, and to get that out of the friendly, early-50s, Vette styling is an accomplishment. Looks like Batman's Sunday-go-meetin car!

How is it that silver street rod did not make Top 5? Or win for that matter?

I agree Frank. Possible politics... IDK.
He had a trick Challenger a few years back that was at SEMA that should have been top 5 SMOY back then too.

I had to just sum it up as politics, and write the whole issue off, to not let it spoil the weekend. Even though I have nothing to do with it, it's frustrating when this happens. Some people don't like the fact that someone is picking apart and judging the cars, but that's what they were built for (in part). They would never have entered the competition if they weren't aware of, and prepared for, that. It's kind of sad though when who you are and who you know means more than what you accomplished with the vehicle. But that's the way of the world (especially in America) - love it or leave it. It's been that way for a long time, and isn't showing any signs of changing.

A new player planning to compete in the future would be well-advised to start rubbing elbows in the right circles, alongside the actual building, eh?

The 54 corvette was really neat, but for what it is worth, it just didn't bring it. The dark color did not help the look of the car and the blacked out wheels just got lost in the wheel wells. It was an engineering feet to get the drive train in the car for sure, but compared to the work on the other top 5's there is no comparison. The thing that I was surprised about is that it had autometer gauges in it. (not a slam on them or anybody using them) With all the aftermarket gauge companies that can do trick one off stuff, why not?

With that being said, it is a super trick car, probably a blast to drive and the builder did a fabulous job.
