I have a sound measuring device too. It's called my ear. Trust me, I know quieter cars that have been black flagged there. Even the Porsche guys I know make custom exhausts to shoot away from the sound meter. I
can barely hear Porsches at WOT.

Someday man... we'll get there.

The new models we were testing did have the mod and they asked us to feather the throttle past the station coming out the fast uphill T-5............gotcha. Only the a few timid riders followed that rule.

Running the track once is worth the hassle. Be prepared for the G-out in turn 6! Check header and oil pan clearance and possibly add bump stops to the suspension for it. I'm guessing base on the bikes that a car plants pretty hard there, maybe someone with Camaro experience there can verify?
Yep, it's such a common trick to aim the exhaust/sound.

Your other warnings are making me a little nervous tho now...

No need to be nervous if you do your homework and you're prepared.

Not that I've ever holed an oil pan before.

I'll get there but I'm still very new on the track... I'd like to get more seat time at other places before Laguna to be honest.

I think I need to get a dipstick for my oil pan first.

Laguna isn't bad for a beginner. Just don't go out and try and set the lap record first sesson. It's not a high-speed circuit, more technical. You just need to establish your reference points for approach, turn in, and braking. Turn 1, 6, 7, and 8 (the corkscrew) are blind so references are on the horizon or the track surface. I think the max speed I saw cresting T-1 on the KTM RC8R was 145, the MotoGP guys see about 165 which is hard to comprehend. I'd guess you might see 130-135 with your car, the key is scrubbing speed on the downhill approach to the dual apex Andretti hairpin (T-2). It's a great track!

I haven't ran any car track days, I'll assume they're similar to bikes and run three 20 minute sessions on the hour for advanced, intermediate, and beginner skill levels?
