They used to be pretty good about a good cleanup and paint even if rattlecan while things were apart, but they slapped that bad boy back together in a hurry with almost no prep and paint underneath.

Everyone has their things they like or dislike. I also understand the show producers have a certian set of things they want to accomplish. That being said what I dislike about most of these shows is the reputation it gives the "real" builders like we have on this site. I see it as sort of a slap in the face to these builders. What is a customer supposed to think when they watch these shows? Personally I think you would have one of two types of people watching.
1. A person that has no idea what to expect in a true $50,000 a $100,000 build. These people would have the money but not the know how to do the build themselves (no disrespect).
2. People like many of us on this site that maybe don't get to visit shops or get to know them and their work. For this type of customer, I would think these shows would make them very hesitant to take their project to a shop.

I mean only the best builders get on tv....right. If these guys are the best, then wow!

Sounds way over inflated. You guys seem to be missing the difference between couple grand flippers and $25K average build shops with top craftsmen and a $150-$350K build high end shop.
If you pay a guy $275 to swap out a trans, odds are he isnt going to degrease and paint the underside of your car, you'd be lucky if he washes your crossmember off before putting it back on.

Well, the only thing I relate it too...is how I would do the job in MY SHOP...

And by the method I learned largely by watching their shows in prior years.

The type of builds that I watched Muscle car and Trucks do over the years that I liked the most and learned the most from were those that took more elbow grease and time to perform than cubic dollars.

I realize they need to do a little bit of everything to please a larger audience, I would just rather not see them cut corners to speed a project up. Anyone can bolt a bunch of high dollar parts on a nasty base and call it good.

I'm still watching the PowerNation shows though...best of the best on TV right now.

I watched "Car Fix" yesterday with Lou Santiago and Jared Zimmerman. Its a good Powerblock style show. They just started a ProTouring 2nd Gen Camaro. Should be pretty good. Judging from previous episodes, there should be plenty of tech info shared.

Roadkill on YouTube is pretty entertaining. What was the show that Boyd had, seems that was the beginning of the end for TV car shows.

Duane on Boyds show was the biggest A..holes i've ever seen. The guys on other shows are playing to the camera. It was too natural to Duane!!!
Also the guy on Fantomworks is a prick also. Naturally.

I just was sitting thru Velocity --- and on comes Desert Car Kings.... What a crappy show that is. The owner (Dad) is just a dick to his employees and kid... and he pulls a POS 442 out of his "private" lot -- and gives the crew 3 weeks and a whopping 10K budget to put it all back together as an original restoration.

What a joke.

The only guy I liked on Boyds show was the painter. Was it Chris? Im terrible with names.

Thanks for the heads up, I just set the DVR to record Car Fix. Always liked Lou when he was the host of Musclecar. Is Jared the one that was with him when he was on Musclecar as well?
