Cool Just getting some air!

Been plumbing my Max line air system this weekend ... nothing to fancy, just some 3/4 copper, 7 trips to Ace Hardware, drain line, a desiccant filter and then the 3/4 Rapid Air line w 2 drops. So far so good, only had one mulligan w the copper, and it took quite awhile to uncoil the blue line, you think it's hard to uncoil brake lines? I'll finish it up tonight hopefully.

Take a look ....

Nothing too exciting but it's one of those things that just has to get done ... now I can get back to work on the Camaro!

Thanks for looking ....

My $.02 of criticism is you may want to replace the first section and/or Union with a length of hydraulic hose. Your compressor will vibrate and a flexible hydraulic hose can deal with that better than rigid copper, is not too expensive, can handle the heat and pressure with ease.

That might be more like $.02 in criticism , $.03 of suggestion and $.04 of reasons... But I am still shy of a dime invested.

I have had great luck with 20' of 3/4" line before any drip legs and/or water separator. I hardly get any moisture anymore.

I thought of a flexible hose just didn't know what to use, hydraulic hose huh? I'll have to see where I can get hyd hoses from!

Thanks for your suggestions!

Michael

I'm not familiar with shark hose. Although, I have heard a trade name of sharkbite fittings... I do use push to connect fittings and poly hose at work but they dont like sustained vibration either, and a blown line can cost me.

I really like that hydraulic hose is rated for massive pressure compared to pneumatics. It's also cheap compare to purpose built flex hose for compressed air, by like pennies on the dollar comparatively.

Most Napa auto parts stores can make hose. Anyplace that sells tractor implements is another sure bet.

You can get it made with fittings which are NPT,National Pipe Thread.

I recommend male NPT on the tank or tank discharge valve connection and a Female NPT swivel in place of your copper connection.

If you heed the suggestion consider cutting your copper with enough to spare that you might reuse your unions or fittings in another location.

My suggestion would be to use a 2-3' 3/4" hose from compressor to wall and run from there with your copper.

I ran my hard lines near the ceiling and my hydraulic hoses run mostly vertical. Condensate collects back at automatic tank drain and rarely reaches a drip leg. I can also move some of the compressors around a little bit for servicing, wall finishing / painting etc... And not have to disturb my airlines or take compressor offline.

Cool Update 6/1

Thought I'd post some updates on the ol girl ... took a page out of Ironworks book of marvels and craftsmanship and thought I'd try it myself.

Take a look, wished my welder was back from repair ....grrrr!

Had the quarter panel off so many times today I can't count em. Little more finessing and she'll be good to weld in place and then cut out the old and weld the tub onto the outer wheel house. Gained almost 2" vertical with this micro tub.

Thanks for looking ....
