Agreed. Front control arms play a huge role here. With stock arms, forget it. I had CPP on the front of my car that limited how much backspace I could run. They were similar to stock arms, but not as restrictive. With my new Global West front arms, I have no restrictions with back spacing. I have an 8" front wheel, but I can FOR SURE go in another 1.5", and still not hit frame, sway bar, etc.

That's good to know, I'm building a 71 Chevelle and I'm running UMI upper and lower control arms, I was wondering if I could have run a wheel with less backspacing than the stock arms would allow.

I'm also at a point of needing a tire/wheel setup for my '69 Chevelle.
I run the Speedtech ATS front forged spindle and GW tubular upper/lower control arms.
I would love to run a 315/30/18 at all corners....
Aside from trimming the front fenders were there any mods to the rear? ie frame rail or 1/4 panel lip mod?

Didn't Scott Mock do this on his Chevelle? Perhaps I'm thinking of another car?

Did you get the wheels on car yet? Would like to see how the RTS wheels look.
I think when pushing size limits you will have a mixed bag of results.
I have 18 x 9-1/2 (5.75" BS)275 tire in front and 18" x 11" (6.25") 295/35/18 in rear om my 1969 Chevelle. No issues on back but when I had 305/35/18 DR it would rub slightly. On the front I have no fender wells. While auto crossing I caught the passenger front fender with tire and got a slight kink. Lucky for me car is just in primer.
