I agree! What I am wondering is how this shop got the "great" reputation they have (had)?
Are they using unskilled workers in areas they really need seasoned vets? Is the management different now ?
How does ANY shop have so many issues and stay in business?

You got it buddy --- straight to "the shed"!

Everything has been fine this weekend... after I got the lights working. But the engine will need a complete do over. No biggie -- it just might have to get a wee bit more 'umpf'.... EEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAA

Man, sorry to hear about the oil pressure and other problems Greg. It's a good thing you have knowledge about cars and have that "shed". Good luck!!

Thanks! Not to worry -- the motor is actually "fine"... it was a cheap crate motor... and we did pull rod and main bearings and they were PERFECT and coated with oil even after all that. I'm pretty certain it's more like they failed (another epic fail) to seal the intake manifold properly. It only huffs blue smoke after a prolonged deceleration... which is telling me that the intake is then pulling oil in from the valley.

Maybe the "pros" will chime in here -- but that's my "official" diagnosis. It won't take me long to pop that off and do a proper job of it.

Actually - it's the brake lights that really get me to chuckling about the entire ordeal. It's like REALLY?! Such a simple inexpensive 1 minute fix.

I will repeat what I've said earlier though... the craftsmanship is superb. Really.

I wish I had your outlook Greg. My motor has sat for 4 years. Every once in a while I run the oil pressure up with the primer tool while I turn it over by hand but I'm still worried about Murphy's law. Every time I think of it starting the hair on the back of my neck stands up.
Glad it running OK for you.

It's just a whole lot easier when you take the $$ part out of the equation... it can all be fixed. Might be a 'hassle', but it can be fixed. I only get upset because I expect to get top notch when I'm billed for top notch. In this case I got billed for inexperience and amateur hour mistakes then I was billed again for fixing it and then again for fixing it again.
