I spent most of the afternoon in the garage. My engine dyno is tenantively scheduled for next Monday so I'm trying to get a head start. I insulated the firewall and cowl with second skin dyna pro. I've got the AC/Heat all mocked up and all the routing and fittings figured out. I'll have the unit back under the dash next week and get the wiring buttoned up. I'm going to wait until the engine is in to plumb everything else. I did get the condensor brackets painted and installed. It disappears nicely. I wired in another LED in series with the current high beam LED. It was just to bright at night. This will cut the voltage in half and it should be about right. I just shrink wrapped it so it won't emit light. I also cut the hole for the oil temp gauge between the speedo and tach. That wasn't fun, one mistake and it needed repainted. Turned out nice. I also played with pedeal ratios. I drilled a hole 5/8 higher which takes it from a current 8:1 ratio to a 12.4:1. Basically cutting pedal pressure needed by a 1/3rd. The side effect is less piston travel per stroke. After mocking it up and measuring, I decided to stay with the current setup. If I decide to go to a 1" bore master later, this hole would give me the same pedal feel with more volume. The dash insert is back in and I'll get the radio and steering column back in the insert tomorrow.

Todd you get more done in a weekend then I do in a month. It's looking good, looking forward to seeing it when it's completed but then again, I also liked it before the remodel. Man I need to throw my couch away.

T, are you running the cable operated Vintage Air? Trying to determine if those knobs you have which control the AC/Heater functions operate the cables or do they hook up via wires?

Ya, I even left out some stuff. I find myself scrutinizing my previous work. I added some mesh to a couple areas of the dash harness that may rub through in say 100,000 miles. LOL I wired the new gauge through the connector. American autowire doesn't sell the terminals but they were nice enough to send me a few for free. It's scary, the car is really getting close to being 100% done.

I'm running a Gen IV unit and it's electric. It's a pretty slick set up. I only need to run one wire through the firewall so it's going to be an ultra clean install. I already had wired in a ground from the fan relays for the trinary switch.

Todd,

I love following your progress. Very thorough and great attention to detail. I know what you mean about the brightness of the LED. In the past I have installed a regular incandescent bulb in-line to draw some voltage and it really cut down the LED brightness.

You say your almost done with your car?? Are you sure you want to stick with that statement?
