Paddle shifted TKO500/600

RaceLogic traction control has what they call shift help. It drops the motor to a user preset RPM when the clutch is pushed. From what they say, you can leave the pedal at WOT and shift. Pretty damn cool.

You need to have EFI that's fired sequentially use you the Racelogic. Such as BS3. Not that I have done any research on it or anything.

You also need a dog ring box. Synchros will not handle that kind of abuse.

I saw a good program onn the Lambo and it's Paddle Shifter. It certainly is cool. Upshifts at WOT, no problem. Down Shifts with Engine braking, piece of cake.

The transmission shifts immediately once the paddle is hit. No lag what so ever.

I like shifting like the next guy, but if a great paddle shifter would make me faster, or make me a better drive, screw it, they can have the floor shifter.

Pro-Touring is about Technology (ie Paddle Shifter). Nostalgia is about doing things the "old" or "original" way.

If a good Paddle shifter is available and you have the $$$ for it, and you don't want it because you prefer the technolgy of the last century, why do you update anything else on your car?

Go back to the Bias Ply Tires, crummy handling, and poor performance of the last century.

The Good old days regarding Technology, Aren't!!

Now the design features and the lines of the cars, well that's another thing. Who wants to drive a damn Jelly Bean.

They say that you could never shift as fast as the unit will shift, they are doing video test on it now to prove this and will have it out soon. It is the coolest up grade for the fact that most people will see the clutch and no stick and wont understand it. Like you said new technology is what these cars are all about and this should be hot.

not to be a dissenter, but tremecs shift real nicely at high rpm if they're set up properly.
one of my former employees who i sponsor sees 7000 plus every upshift, no issues powershifted or not.
on fourth season same tranny, no service done.

To me it's about the fun of driving and the interaction between man and machine. I've always found that it's more fun to work a stick and push a clutch. It's more viceral, more involved and hence more fun in my my case.

However, if I had an auto I would want to paddle shift it since that is more involved than the alternative.

My opinion...cool but kinda stupid....

Whats the point if you still have to push the clutch in ?? The "memory feature" sounds kinda cool but.....

So you depress the clutch and then push a button to shift rather than move a lever ?? big deal.....

Paddle shifter for an automatic is one thing, but this sounds like alotta cash for a pointless piece of technology.
