Jon, you may have already answered this but when do you think it will be painted? I thought you were going with green?

Hey Doug,we are shooting for january to have it completed.It is going to be green like the rendering.The flat black was going to be the color for SEMA but we made a last minute change.

Could you list the specs on the motor, specificly which heads did you use?

I have gotten quite a few email's and PM"s asking about different mods.So we put together a quick spec sheet,its not complete but it's a start.

Orion Build sheet

Front Valance
Cold air opening with 4 inch mandrel bent tubes
Remove recessed license plate on valance and match tip
to front bumper
Front bumper mounting brackets and opening removed
Stainless steel mesh with trim
Moved front indicators lights six inches on each side

Front Bumper
Hand formed corners and license plate cut out removed
Moved in to match front fenders
Relocated mounts to valance
Removed mounting bolts and welded studs

Fenders
Widen each side 3/8 of inch for tire clearance (made
with two fenders)
squeezed inner lip at door to allow tighter gaps
Extended fender and matched to rocker panel
Counter sunk mounts at rocker
Counter sunk bolts for no shims at radiator support
and firewall
Filled and smoothed all spot-welds
Drilled spot welds and matched profile to hood then
re-weld
Ground and smoothed all edges for consistency
Weld fender extensions to fenders

Header panel
Cut and relocated grill mount for a smoother fit to
grill
Tighten gap at hood with a smooth panel and removed
the emblem holes
Mounts welded to panel for counter sunk bolts for fill
plate

Grill
Matched to fender with heat
Relocated grill reinforcement support to inside for
seamless look

Hood
Remove inner structure and replaced with smooth
structure
Weld all holes and fill all openings
Epoxy structure to hood and smooth edges
Remake inner structure to match cowl profile

Cowl panel
Fill air vents/grill
Weld all mounting holes and drill new mounting points
Extend to fit tighter on fenders
Mount braces to keep consistent at windshield
Extend to match firewall gap at each corner

Firewall
DSE firewall fill plate
Extend the firewall fill plate to left side
Remove wiper hole
Fill all dimples and holes
Covers for body to sub frame mounts
Factory steering column brace removed
Relocated wiper motor under left fender

Front inner wheel wells
Mini-tub wheel wells for larger tires and suspension
travel
Raise inner fender and remove flat spot by fender
Weld and relocate mounting holes
Fill all dimples and holes
Modify front extensions to allow for turbo clearance
and extend to match relocated frame rails
Smooth braces from firewall

Doors
Hammer and dolly all sheet metal edges to match other
panels
Weld edges for gap consistency
Fill door locks

Quarter panels
Remove lower pinch welds and make new edges to match
new rear panel
Remove extruded sheet metal for bumper and make smooth
Cut and “box” lip at inner wheel well for tire
clearance
Bottom rear panel cover with billet aluminum diffusers

Rear panel
Handmade lower panel with step made and pinch weld
removed
Exhaust cut outs
License plate opening narrowed
Gap at bumper removed
Trunk lock removed

Rear bumper
Hand made corners
License plate opening narrowed 2 ¼ inches
Holes filled and new brackets welded with studs
Gap to body reduced
Show chrome plated by Sherms

Trunk lid
All gaps welded for consistency
Rear lip extended for tighter gap
Cadillac latch installed with sheet metal cover
All holes filled
Covers for spoiler mount holes

Rear spoiler
Lowered
Studs removed and replaced with bolts
Boxed extensions at quarter
Widen ½ inch

Hinges
Door hinges ground smooth
Trunk hinges boxed with counter sunk bolts and removed
rods and replaced with gas struts
Trunk pins removed and installed new threaded pins
with brass bushings
DSE billet hood hinges painted black

Latches
VW front hood latch with cable release
Cadillac electric trunk latch
Door stock latches modified for electric locks

Mirrors
Second generation Camaro converted to electric from
Cadillac parts
Rear view mirror relocated from head liner to
windshield mount

Hardware
Engine all ARP 12 point stainless
Body stainless allens

Seams and gaps
Welded quarter to rocker, quarter to rear panel and
rear window panel to quarters
Drip rails welded and smoothed for paint
Rocker pinch welds hammer and dolly straight and
ground for consistency

Trunk
Raised 2 ½ inches
New center section made
Covers for bumper bolts
DSE battery mount

Exhaust
321 stainless headers
304 stainless exhaust with inconel expansion/ flex
Headers made by Kerts Fabrication
3-inch exhaust with hand made rear tips

One-off Rick’s stealth stainless gas tank with twin in
tank pumps and filter

I have to say I'm pretty lucky to live about 20 mins away from Marquez Design. I was down the about 3 weeks and Jonny's car was on the lift. To be able to get under it & just see how well thought out & engineered this car is way understated. It's one thing to see it from the top - but to see it from underneath just makes it that much better. The attention to detail is about as good as it gets. Hats off to Marquez Design and Jonny for creating one of the best, if not the best overall 69's I have ever seen. Look forward to seeing it in color and completed.

Default Roll Cage

Hay Johnny do you know what the part # for your roll cage is? I like the way it looks in your ride and that is one of my next things to get going on. By the way your is just freeking AWSOME

Rick, call Chris Alston and tell them you want the Marquez Design 1st Gen cage. You can specify if you have mini-tubs or not, as well as tubing material.
