I drove my '67 Vette BBC tri-power car from Seattle to Bloomington (Springfield) Indiana - via Jackson Hole and then up to Mt Rushmore. The alternator gave up on it 8 miles from "the corn palace town" in Mitchell So Dakota.... I just kept driving - and the chevy dealer there fixed it while Alex (who was 10 at the time) and I had some lunch.


You'll always find someone that will help you...

Its comes with some trepidation to go out on the road with something you've worked so hard for but in the end once you stop worrying about pot holes, weather, accidents, etc....the hum of that motor and the freedom of driving is fantastic.

Its liberating and the memories & friends you make along the way are worth more than the intitial worries before hitting the road. I've upped my agreed value insurance and have my credit card ready. So for now no trailer no spare no problem.

As for a third job? No thanks I'd rather invest in bitcoin lol.

while not full on "pro touring" YET.. i would have no problems driving cross country in mine and i have several times.. NJ to CA via OH and back to OH. OH to TX to OH..
though my back would hurt from the 1979 worn out bench seat. and AC would be nice

Been there, almost didn't get back. My 2nd event, and still very green. I dropped a rear wheel off the track at Music City 1 in the Parnelli, and crunched the back left. Didn't even know that my spare wouldn't fit over the bigger brakes that the Parnelli came with, plus it had staggered wheels. If it hadn't been for Jason at Gateway Classic Mustang loaning me their display wheel with BFG R1, I would have had tow charges, at least 1 extra day in hotel, taxis, and who knows what other expenses before I could get home, and that was just from Nashville to Memphis. Thanks again Jason!!! When I got home, I immediately started looking for used trucks and trailers, knowing that there was no way I would take that chance again with a high dollar car. I would drive Blu a few hundred miles, (not to race) and not be worried, but any further than that, and I'm taking the life boat. Now the JCG vette, Squirrelly, no worries!

i pushed mine out of the garage for the first time in over a year,does this count? eventually i hope to get it dependable to take anywhere,i just have to stop coming up with new things to add so i can finish it and enjoy it.i really was trying to get it out to goodguys here in kissimmee but fell short.

I really love driving the car I put over 3,000 miles a year on my car and drive it to the track pulling the camper trailer and road racing,drag racing and attempting to auto cross. it does not always work out the best but I put drivers insurance with towing up to 150 miles and a couple of years ago I broke the rear end and had it towed home on a flat bed. my idea is drive them and have fun with them.but I can also understand bringing a support vehicle with just to make it easy for the just in case. for me it is the adventure of the whole trip.
