When cold or on cold roads, they will break loose at will, so be careful. Art spun the Vette out in the middle of a road, and Kyle almost took out his DSE shop sign because of cool tires. Just our experience.

What about the BFG R1 tire?

I completely agree with PTAddict's comments!
I never got them to 160 either, at least by the time I put the pyrometer in them in the pits after a session and cool down lap. 138 or so is the highest I've seen.

I've not run them in an autocross, but I can't see how you would get enough heat into them in a typical auto-x to make them effective. You'd be better off with a dedicated auto-x tire from Hoosier or similar.
