Default 3-Piece Wheel Change needed

Hello:

I have some Kenisis Wheels that need to be narrow and have the back space changed.

I live just north of Dallas, does anyone have any recommendations for a competent company to do this work?

I called Kenisis and since they were bought out, they no longer do this type of work.

Thanks,

Ty O'Neal

Over on pro-touring.com a company called Weldcraft ( I Think) has been suggested to people who wanted to widen some rims...

Default A possibility???

Are they welded?

If they are still 3-piece bolt together wheels you should be able to change the backspacing by buying different inner and outer wheel shells. I'm not sure what the bolt pattern is around the outer rim, but you might be able to call another 3-piece wheel manufacturer to see if they would sell you the shells. The few that come to mind are

Forgeline
DPE
Fikse

I'm sure their are others. It might be worth a shot.

Later,

Brandon

I'll save you the search...

"Weldcraft does nice work and has a fast turnaround time. For most jobs, they charge $125/wheel.
(734) 420-2211"

That was off the PT site...

Thanks guys for the input. I'll call around and see what I can find.

Yes, they are 3 piece wheels, and I would need to buy two new halves per wheel. (Width needs to be narrowed, and BS needs to be changed)

They are the Kinesis K17 wheels. I need to change a 17X9 into a 17X8. I want to run a 235-245 tire vs. a 275.

Thanks,

Ty

Have you thought about selling them as is and then buying new ones? I don't know if that would be too expensive to do.

Replacing ALL the wheels. (Good or Bad Idea?)

I haven't really thought of that, however maybe that is the best way to go?

What do you think the set would be worth?

They are the Kinesis K17's.

Rear 17X11 with 315's on the rear.
Front 17X9 with 275's on the front.

The fronts rub a lot with a standard subframe and standard fenders. The front wheels have a real deep back space.

For the right front set up, they would probably work fine, it's just as the car is set up now the rub way too much for me.

Here is what they look like on the car:

I would appreciate any and all responses regarding this idea.

Thanks again for ALL you all's help.

Best Regards,

TRy Compomotive USA they are good guys to deal with and may be able to help you out. If Kineses still sells wheels why can't they just sell you the shells? They have to all be getting them from the same MFG so I am sure a call to a couple 3 piece wheel Co's will get an answer. I am assuming you are looking to jus simply bolt on a new half?

Buy a used set on EBay with the right offset??

Brian:

Thanks for the email.

Yes the wheel halves would work great. I'll try what you recommended.

I did cal Kinesis and they Don't service the 17's any longer.

Thanks,

Ty
