If you look at the design language of the second gen, it is much more about softer compound curves, while the fist gen has harder corners. The straight, relatively slab sided cowl induction just looks a little out of place on the second gen car. I think that a more curvelinear version could work with the sides flared out towards the rear from a top view to match the lines of the hood. I was intending to modify the L-88 to go along with the hood better, but everyone seems so against it, I don't think I will even entertain that idea now.
If we go with a stock style hood, I was thinking of cutting out the vents and making them a 1 or 2 opening affair backed up with a hexagonal mesh like our first gen cowl panel. Would people rather have that, or just smooth over the vent holes altogether?
We are working on some sketches which I will post tomorrow.
Thanks again,

YES! I totally agree with your theory on 2nd gen design language and would love to see a flat aftermarket hood. You need to design the scoop that is on your homepage for a 1st and 2nd gen NOW! With all the late model efi motors in these cars, there is no reason for a traditional cowl hood because it feeds air 3' from the throttle body and the motors are so low profile, there's already tons of clearance under a flat stock hood. I dig the extractor vents as an option and would probably smooth right over the cowl vents.
The L-88 hood just screams 1979.
I have a lot of clients ask for cowl hoods on their Camaros and I will change their minds to that new scoop if you make it! That could be one of the coolest new products and people need an option between stock or cowl induction.
