Former lurker coming out

Hi guys. I've been lurking around hear for a good while now and thought I'd finally introduce myself. My name is David Lemmond and I have been building race cars in the drag racing industry since 1989. I specialize in the heads up street cars that generally use 10.5" slicks or drag radials. I have been fortunate enough to have my own car as well as several customer cars featured in mags like Hot Rod and Chevy Hiperformance. I am currently building myself a new Twin turbo BBC 1967 Chevy II for the Outlaw 10.5 class. And pics can be viewed on my sitehttp://www.davidlemmond.com/shop-nova.html

Recently, I have become very interested in the pro touring type cars and have been coming to read all I can to learn more. You guys should be proud to have a civil site where some very good information is shared so freely. Some of the drag racing sites are not as friendly.

So there it is finally. Sorry it took me so long. I do have questions and thought it be better if people knew a little about me first. lol

Welcome, David. That's a fantastic car that you're building. I could look at that thing for hours.

David - it looks like you've got resources and knowledge in all the right areas to make one heck of a Pro-touring car and add enough extreme to make it a g-machine performer. As I'm sure your finding out - the very knowledge applied to be successful at drag racing is relavent - you just adjust your purpose/usage. Can't wait for you to tackle a project in this direction.

Hey, not to be not nice, but I'm curious. You have a really nice car, sweet motor engine set-up, and are well known for building quality cars. Why is this car being built with a ladder bar rear?

Also, am I blind, or do your spindles not have steering arms?

Carl, It's a swing arm suspension. (glorified super strong ladder bar)They have been used with great success in the Pro modified ranks. The only thing I did different is put heim joints in the front to have some adjustablity. With the small tires we have to run along with the power I will have, I thought it would work well. I think I'm the first and only guy to try it in the 10.5 stuff. I have a lot of people waiting to see if it works. Hero or zero right? lol

On the spindles, I did not build steering arms yet because I was not 100% sure where the rack was going to end up and I did not want to have a lot of bump steer spacer between the tie rods and the steering arms. Good eye though!

I guess on a turbo car getting it to leave super hard isn't an issue so a swingarm would work. I just don't see very many.

On those spindles, I was thinking maybe you had some cool remote control steering. Maybe hiding the leads inside the rod ends.
