Default Delrin Body Bushings

I am in the process of turning down some Delrin body bushings for my sons 79 El Camino. The original mounts had washers and sleeves so I am looking for opinions of I need to include them in the Delrin bushings. My thought is not to use them since the Delrin is strong enough. Should I make them thicker if I don't use the washers? Please offer opinions.

My guess would be that you would need the washers, but not the spacers. I have a set for my 442, and that's how I planned to use them.

Shiny Side Up!

I will probably be determined by the composition of POM that you will be using.

Since it is not encapsulated and it is not going to see any motion, therefore there will not be any coldflux issues, I dont believe that you will need washers.

the only place id incorporate a washer was directly under the bolt head.. other than that you shouldnt need it. are you using reinforced or unreinforced POM?

Thanks to those who responded. I have been away due to a death in the family and didn't get a chance to respond. I did not know there was reinforced and unreinforced. Is there a way to tell by looking at it?

you can buy it with different amounts of fibreglass filling GF10 has 10% fibreglass.. you should du lust fine with only a washer under the bolt head

i had mine made from aluminum.. but for what they retail for id rather just buy a set next time..

Thanks Deuce, that is the first I have seen the aluminum mounts. I can get the acetyl rod for about $60.00. That is about half what poly bushings go for. Plus it gives me a chance to make something on the lathe.
