Your subframe connector wher eit connects to the front rail - did you add any reinforcement at that attachment point ?

The little "stub" that comes off the main rail, ie where you have attached your subframe connector , is a very thin weak piece. I would add an extension or some kind of gusseting system to attach to the real frame horn. If you design it cleverly, you can reinforce the curved/bend area of your connector to make up for the weakness of a bent tube as well. Should only cost you about 4 lbs per side, 8 lbs total.



on edit: I took a closer look , it does appear you may have done some reinforcement there already. That "stub" is almost tinfoil thin compared tothe frame horn normally.

You are right that your sub frame conectors and cage add alot of strength but if you tie into the factory rocker that was intended by the factory to be the strength of the uni body it will help everything that you have done be that much more solid with out much time, money or weight added. I am getting ready to start a 62 futura build and wil be tieing everything together. The way I see it is since the rockers are support for the door jambs, hinge and strike posts why not add more strength to these areas and reduce any body flex at the same time.
Nice build by the way, I have alot of what you have done on my list of parts that I am gathering but sine futura's are not as popular to build as stangs I will be doing alot of it from posts like yours for design.

Keep it up it will be well worth it when you are finished. Nice to see you are not cutting any corners in your build.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. well Im convinced, I decided to add some gussets and tie the subframe connectors to the rockers. Now, I just have to make some. Any ideas?

I have most of the seam welding complete. Im also going to do some seam welding on the rockers, cowl area, door jambs, hinge post and strike post. I will post some pics by next week. I have also been thinking about running side exhaust through the rocker of the car. This would be a lot more work, but look real clean. Im just going to take my time, so I dont miss any little details. Again, Thanks to everyone for your input on my build.

I have had a lot more free time to work on my car. I finished a majority of the seem welding. All thats left is some of the floor pan seams. Yesterday, I recieved the outer rocker rail support kit from Global West. I just need to modify the kit a little, then I can weld it up. After the outer rocker rail kit is installed, I will work on getting the mini tubs finished.
