Default Lookin for help with cam and/or lifter decisions

heres the deal...my lifter are shot. My choices are either replace the lifters by themselves (is this ok on used cam? what if any are the cons about this?) or replace the cam and lifters all together. The motor is a 427 All Aluminum small block crate from World.

I'm looking for drivability while still still being able to be spirited driving without worrying about adjusting the valves all the time. If i do go with a cam change should it be a hydraulic roller? what lifters?

* Motown 9.025” deck height 4-bolt main
* Eagle 4340 forged steel crank 4.00” stroke
* Eagle 6.00” rods
* JE forged 4.125” bore
* 10.0 to 1
* Speed-Pro rings
* Hydraulic Cam Duration @ .050 is 244 intake & 252 exhaust. Lift .515 intake & .525 exhaust. Centerline is 112
* Motown Aluminum 220 heads
* 2.08” x 1.600” Manley valves: Severe Duty intake & exhaust
* 1.5:1 ratio roller rockers
* Motown Intake
* Hardcore 870 cfm carburetor
* MSD Pro Billet Distrib. and MSD 6AL

Any help or suggestions are appreciated

Why did your lifters crap out in the first place?

Was the cam you had in the car good for your needs?

Are the lifters under warrantee from World Products?

You did the right thing to start asking questions, your at a point where making a good decision now will affect the behavior of your engine completely.

Start by posting some additional information. I'm sure other will chime in as soon as there is more information to work with.

After driving around for an 35mins or so the engine ran like crud. You could tell that the valves needed readjusting. When adjusting the valves one or two took forever to come to the neutral position.

The cam to me is hurting the engines performance. You can tell that it has a cam but its sounds like any other 350 with a mild cam.

The 2 year warranty is up but it the engine has barely if not exactly a 1000 miles on it. I drive the car mostly around town and some freeway time. I just dont want to spend the rest of my life adjusting valves.

Hope this is enough info.

Do not put new lifters on an already run camshaft unless you want to do it again in a very short time. (Not to mention the metal that will be in your engine from the wiped out lobes/lifters)

Best thing to do is call a cam manufacturer and talk to them. They can help you pick the right cam for your combo based on what you want the motor to do. Theyve done it and have the background and resourses to make a better educated decision than most anybody here on this board. (no offense to anyone)

Sorry to hear your having troubles, just look at it as an opportunity to make an improvement now that you have some seat time and a reference point.

Good luck!

Chris
