Default Pattern Check

New 3.73 gears and Truetrac in my 12bolt. Backlash is right on .006". Yukon gear guide says this is good. What do you think?

I think it's still just a bit crossed up... meaning drive is just a tad toe and coast is still a bit heel.

It would be nice to see drive just slightly toe, but... with coast centered. That would be the ideal goal...

What you want to actually look at is the wipe off on the other teeth. You can see in the drive picture that the drive pattern is a little toe. If you can bring that out... coast will come back in and then you can work both coast and drive equally with the lash.

Your really close Len... really close.

Thanks for the input, I've always shopped this out, and just about went with your recommendation to take it down south to ProGear but I've wanted to tackle this job for awhile and get past being intimidated by it.
The pic's are the initial run, still need to check it now that I have the crush sleeve in and pinion torqued. Also preloaded the carrier and torqued the caps so it'll likely be a bit different this run. Backlash only changed .001" after preloaded the carrier so I was happy with that, since it didnt change much I doubt I'll see much pattern change either.

Outstanding. A real hotrodder does it just for that fact alone... and the real difference between doing a job and doing it right the first time... is making that 0.001" change in depth just to get it right.

Good on ya Len ! Its fun settin it up isnt it ??

It was pretty satisfying dialing it in, I increased the pinion shim from the factory .029" to a .030" that came in the master kit and it centered right up. Backlash is still right at .006" so I buttoned it up and filled her with fluid last night.
One less job I'll have to pay for in the future!
