At the time I thought of it 50/50 was to mean the car was 1/2 Camaro and 1/2 Corvette with a 50/50 weight distribution.

Not me. Wayne did all sheetmetal cage, and frame work. That is indeed a widened wheel barrow as a firewall cover. You can even see the two bolt holes where the handles used to attach to it.
