Default exhaust

I have a 73 mustang, 302. I am putting on dual exhaust. I want it to be loud, but not obnoxious. I am getting headers and what should I use for mufflers? I thought about purple horneys, but am unsure. What do you think???

I've always been a BIG fan of Flowmasters.... That's what I'll be putting on mine.
Give us some more info on your Mustang & plans that you have for it.

Take those purple hornies and throw them in the nearest trash can. They produce the most unrefined, old redneck ford farm truck noise. If you want a nice, hollow, metallic sound, go with flowmaster. If you would like a more controlled and deeper sound , go with magnaflow, borla or dynomax. I am not a fan of flowmaster simply because everything I took a flowmaster off of went faster and got better gas mileage and didn't blow header gaskets. When I say faster I mean like 3 tenths and 2 miles per gallon. 12.6 to a 12.3in the quarter by unscrewing 1 of the 2 1-1/2" pipe dumps. No joke. When I have a customer that wants to sound faster, we go with flowmaster. When they want a custom no loss exhaust, magnaflow, borla or straight through resonator depending on sound volume and budget. I enjoy using mandrel bent stainless, because that in itself creates a sound no muffler can reproduce.
