Question worth keeping/restoring?

well just thought i'd throw this out there for opinions. as per my name and introduction thread i found a complete and original buick regal t-type. i got it from a friend who's family has owned the car since new. upon picking it up i discovered the body is too far gone to be worth the effort to save. floors, trunk pan, doors, rockers are all gone along with a few other areas. strangely the quarters are still good. the engine is also seized and therefore am assuming the turbo as well. i'm sure the transmission isn't too far off either.

i have no sentimental attachment to the car nor was it on my list of must have cars to own. however i have always admired the body shape and given it credit for what it is.

now debating what to do with it.....i would essentially have to buy another regal of same year and combine the two to make one car to make this one work. i can probably buy a grand national for far less than it would take me to get this one back on the road. it'll be worth less than a GN in the end as well.

i guess i'm a little torn as to what to do with it.

1. should i keep it and begin the restoration since it is a complete numbers matching car

2. save the engine, tranny, wiring harness wheels etc. and send the rest to the crusher and use the parts i salvage in another project

3. forget the whole thing and continue in my quest to find an early 60's impala or first gen camaro

thoughts and input appreciated. thanks in advance.

thats a tough one.... it depends on what you would use the car for, and what the 60 impala is for.... if the impala is going to be an occational driver and you have a DD you are fine driving for everything else, id say sell the t-type

Im a fan of the g-bodys, malibus and t-types in particular so if it were me id do a cheapish pro touring car and drive the hell out of it when the weather was decent, with the right suspension they really are a great driving experience, and the regal engine can be tuned quite cheaply to get you solidly in the low to mid 11's even 10's on a completely stock long block....

cheap respray of need be, good seats, done over suspension and big boost will yield a fun driver, call it joe-touring... but then again i havent seen the car... parting it out could just be a smart move....

I would suggest option #1, but I am partial to turbo Buicks since I have a couple.

well i ended up taking it back to my friend. she's attached to the car and i couldn't bear to part it out etc. it really wasn't worth all the work and effort. i told her if she ever wants to get it on the road again i'd help her with it. the car is gonna need another solid vehicle to make into one. not to mention other countless parts that would have to be replaced.

i could probably buy a running and in decent shape grand national for less than what it would cost for me to get this t-type back on the road. it was never on my list of must own cars but have always admired the body style. it sort of fell into my lap so decided it could be part of the fleet.

well now i'm just glad i made the decision and can move on to a car that's on the list. but which one??? there's no winning is there....hahahh.
