Question Nova Wheel ?

I have a 1970 chevy nova that i will be putting 2in drop spindles on with my disc brakes and iam wanting to get some wheels. I looking at the 17in CL205's I am thinking of the following wheel and tire sizes let me know what you know will work. i can roll the rear lip with no problem just want to get close to the sizes that aree known to work. I know that i should check my car but think that i can get a good idea this way. . i did check the search but would only like to get advice from people know what works

Thanks for your help in advance

Brandon, there are known fitment issues when you combine 2" drop spindles with rear steer applications like the 67-69 F-bodies and 68-74 X-bodies due to interference between the steering arm and/or tie-rod end and the wheel. There are three different lengths of steering arms, however regardless of which arms you have, I think yours are going to hit.

I run about 5.06" of backspacing on an 18 x 8.5 wheel with stock spindles and it's close but not too close. There are plenty of reasons to go with drop springs instead of drop spindles, and that's just one of them.

The rear could be close on either side depending on how centered your rear axle is under the car, but plan on rolling the fender lips for sure. How much drop will also have an effect on your overall fitment, but I assume you'll be matching the front more or less.

Iam not sure if i matters or not but the spindles have the fixed steering arms. so would it be better to run a 7in wheel in the front and maybe run like a 235 tire? shoud i just run a 8in wide wheel in the back to make sure that they fit with no issues?

I think you'll have interference issues with anything more than 4 to 4.25" backspacing and 2" drop spindles. Narrower wheels with less backspacing and smaller tires is one option, bigger wheels would be another option, and so would be running drop springs and OE spindles instead.

You haven't mentioned anything about brakes, but now is the time to consider what you'd like to run since the wheels can make a huge difference in what you can fit later. It usually works out better to select brakes and then wheels...even if you don't purchase the brakes before the wheels, at least it was taken into consideration.

ya for the brakes iam just going to be running the stock sytle single piston for a long time. this isnt my main project just something to drive around. but i really just want the cl205 wheels in the 17in so i will just get the brake that will work if i still have the wheels then. i think if i do a 17*7 with a 4in bs that should do it. i will check to make sure before i buy the wheels.

Thanks for you help Tobin
