Can anyone help me out here? I am looking at a '09 G8 L79/6sp auto combo to go in my 1970 rs Camaro. I am curious about the durability of the trans if I bump the power up in the engine (400-450?). Does anyone here have any experience with this combo? I know I can make the motor/trans fit in the car and I am very confident in my mechanical abilities. It's the programing and electronics portion that I am a TOTAL rookie. Give me a carb with a distributor and I can do wonders. But being a little behind the curve with the LS series engines and current electronic transmissions has me nervous.
So I guess my questions are; 1- Does anyone have a tuning package available for this set up? 2- What are the SAFE power levels this 6 speed tranny can take? 3- Does anyone here have actual hands on experience with this package that might be able to give me some insight on a good way to handle the instal in to my camaro.
I currently have a stock subframe and think I will keep it that way for budget reasons. (it will be made a little more stout and will also be adding sub frame connectors). My car will see 99% street duty but that does not mean it will not be abused by my right foot on a regular basis. (just ask my 2000 Mustang about abuse

)
My next area of concern is the rear suspension and diff. It has the factory ten bolt right now. If I rebiuld it, weld the tubes, use better aftermarket axels and all that, will it handle a 450 hp engine or do I need to step up to a 9 inch or 12 bolt?
I know there is alot of questions here, and ANY help with the selection of components would be greatly appreciated.
I know how to put it all together the right way, I just want to know I am using the right parts to reach my goals. The main goal is to not have to call a tow truck because my rear end exploded on the road somewhere.
Thanks again for any input.
