Ok scottybuck 11 here's a picture of my car with a set of GW 3" drop springs. It took a few months but it did come down from the height of the initial install, about 1.5". If you are still working on the car and it is not being driven, I would suggest leaving everything loose and keep some weight in the trunk. Get some measurements so you can track the drop. So basically don't panic yet.
Maybe a few guys with the DSE 2" drop springs can post some pics for comparison.
As for any feelings of being stupid...you can totally dismiss those. Lots of guys have been in your shoes including me.
