if Obama and Congress passed this "stimulus" package back in February or whenever it was, where are these jobs and small businesses that are supposed to be helped out??
I still see people losing jobs and jobs are not easy to come by neither. They were in such a rush to push it through, but I don't see any results.
Does anyone agree here or am I just a pissed off person blowing off some steam?? lol

One of the thing I am seeing is the perception of an abundance of available talent this is contributing to people loosing jobs.
The idea is that hey lets turn over some staff an take advantage of the "under employed" and available work force out there.

I'm definitely seeing the results personally. In a couple of ways. But my career is Real Estate and the tax credit has really helped the first time buyers get off the fence. The home owner stability act is really helping some folks stay in their homes as well. As young as you are tone, I would really consider going to where the grass is greener if things aren't working out where you're living.

Aviation is crazy in a bad way. Very few jobs to be had. Outrageous demands on qualifications and working conditions for very little compensation. There are a few US carriers accepting resumes, but most are not hiring. Corporate flying is way down to. NetJets who has been very stable is looking at layoffs as is UPS. Just read that globally aviation is expected to be down 7.5 percent this year. Not the kind of news I care for.

But on a positive note....my chances of being in town for SEMA are looking good!

I have not seen any real positive changes in Washington yet. In the blue collar arena around here the jobs are really hard to find and most are down on wages if you can get one.
I have been in the cabinetry business for most of my life. As a fabricator and installer. The last few years as a project manager. Many of the local smaller shops are going under. A few of the large shops that ship nationwide are also going under. The timber industries here are taking a brutal beating. Mills shutting down all over the place.
The help they promised has not shown up here yet. But if you ask our elected
"friends" at the capitol, they say it's fantastic and everyone is just fine.

As for the housing market Todd, I have a few friends in real estate and that has improved a little. But only just a LITTLE. Still, it's a positive move in the market.

It's really pretty simple... trickle up economics does not now, nor has it ever, worked.

Yeah, it's kinda tough around here and everywhere I guess.
I guess it's just hard to believe that the greatest country, the U.S.A., has gone to this level. It's kind of upsetting and maddening.
I know things will pick up eventually.

Just be thankful that you don't live in California. Those idiots are cutting funding to everything and raising taxes without solving the real problem...wasteful spending by officials and frees sh$t for every illegal and jackoff that doesn't want to work. Way to go Ahnold.

I guess my point in posting this thread is, I haven't seen one thing in my area that this "stimulus" package is supposed to be helping. People are still losing their jobs. Just the other day, I went to the dentist's office and it was a ghost town. I asked the secretary, whose husband owns the practice, about business and she told me she haven't seen it this bad in 22 years!!
She stated that people are just getting the "minimum" amount of work done or what little dental coverage will cover. She also said that they had a condo in Florida and it was pretty bad there as well. The shops on the strip are closed, restaurants are closed. She said there are 20 story high rises with maybe three quarters of them being COMPLETELY EMPTY!! I know things will turn around, they always do. But, didn't this "stimulus" package get passed by congress over 3 months ago with "shovel ready" projects?? Yeah,.. right!!!

Ok, I'm done ranting. Thanks for listening guys/gals.
