You know John -- I posted this up == thinking that it "may" have some interest. There's a lot of people on this site with big HP/TQ and big ol fat tires... so I thought - "WHY NOT!" and if it helps one person - then it was worth the small effort...

Can't tell you how many times I'd have tires mounted and balanced - and it seemed they'd go out of balance within a day or two... now I think I might have a fighting change of understanding why!

Good luck at the track!

I only WISH my car was a big power car! The reality is that it's more of what track guys would refer to as a momentum car, kind of like an oversized Miata! LOL

I'm sure some of the cars I ve seen here with big power and/or killer brakes could rotate the tires on the rims. Mine has neither, so if it can happen to me....................

Thanks Greg!

I ran Sebring today. No noticable rotation of the tires on the rims using the tire markings and no vibrations when hitting about 125 at the end of the back straight. Resetting the tire on the rim and rebalancing seems to have done it. I'm running a 1 mile Land Speed Race in Miami next weekend where I should hit around 150 MPH so I'll see if I pick up a vibration.

Good to hear John.

I was also wondering if a guy mounted his tires up - using the bead lube - but waited a couple of days or so before getting on them hard... would the lube stuff dry enough so that it wasn't allowing the tire to slip on the rim.

Either way - it's good to just be aware that this can happen.

Best,
Greg

It's quite possible. The first time I was on track within an hour of the tires being mounted. This time it was several days.
