A freind of mine started this last year
Northeast Rod Run's Blurbs
This page was started for the sole purpose of trying to make it easier for fellow car enthusiasts to get together, for a yearly "Rod Run" throughout the Eastern U.S. This idea was brought together because of other past "Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour" participants not liking the wait between Hot Rod's trips to the Eastern U.S. There is the hope that this small yearly road trip with fill the void left behind until Hot Rod can make it back out this way. There will always be three constants for our trips. The first on being that we will always be driving on scenic roads (mainly traveling on National Scenic Byways), and not just driving down the interstates. Because of our smaller size, we are better suited to do this than "The Hot Rod Power Tour" because their numbers are too big to be able to go on the more rural and scenic drives that we run on. The second one is that these will always take place in the fall, and the third one is that we will always try to make it a three day trip, with each leg being in the 200 mile range. The first trip was in October of 2008 and it was very well recieved. Before the trip was even over people were asking about the next one. On our maiden voyage we had a great selection of people and cars from places like NY, MA, NH, and RI, and we hope we can grow on that year after year.

Day 1 we will be driving a total of 172 miles from Mt Wachusett to our Hotel in Rutland, Vermont. The estimated drive time is 4 hours, not including food, gas stops, and our 1 planned stop for the day at Mt. Equinox in Vermont. This stop can be used as just an extended rest stop for some (it is 126 miles into the first day), or weather permitting, they can take the ride up Skyline Drive
http://www.equinoxmountain.com/skylinedrive/index.htm this is a toll road and is $12.00 for car and driver (passengers are $2.00 each). after this stop the hotel is only another 46 miles.
Day 2 will have a total of 206 miles from our Hotel to Whiteface Mountain in the Lake Placid area, with an estimated drive time of 4 1/2 hours. Once in the area people can either join the others and take the trip up the Veterans Memorial Highway
http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ay.html?cat=16 (also a toll road) or head to their hotels, or take a drive around the surrounding area and check it out until people get back from the ride.
Once we return from the cruise up Veterans Memorial Highway, everyone has been welcomed to come and hang out at "The Inn at Whitface"
http://www.theinnatwhiteface.com/Tour.htm , which is where most of us are staying. The owner of the Inn said she has no problem with everyone hanging there until it's time for them to retire for the night, as long as people aren't a bunch of idiots and respect her place. There is plenty of room to hangout, inside and out. There is also a firepit outside if the weather is accomodating
