you're forgetting the sound. I'll take a pencil cammed 502 over a cammed up LSX any day of the week. That modern sound just doesn't fit in a muscle car in my experience.

They can sound good but not AS good. I can see the noose being slipped up the rope. It's 2 on 1000.

Any NA motor putting down 750hp is going to get less than 10mpg regardless if its an LSX or BBC.

Its all a personal preference, diff strokes for different folks.

second that and on the sound, I may be pontiac powered but nothing sounds like a big inch engine with Carbs.

My brother in law ALWAYS pushed BB's -- I ALWAYS drove SB's... we went round and round for 30 years... 'til I bought a BB side exhaust 67 Vette (I've owned a few 66/67 SB Vettes) - from then on I finally understood what he was talking about...
