Default Des Moines Iowa to Columbus Ohio

Hi there all Lateral-g buddys!

Sitting here and planing a trip with some friends.
The main events for the tour is the GoodGuys Heartland Nationals and GoodGuys Nationals.
We are planing on leaving from Norway on Monday 28 of June.
The Heartland Nats are from 2-4 July and the Nationals is from 9-11 July.

I have read that Good Guys or other clubs have made a tour between these two events. Im wondering if anyone has some information regarding this?

We are planing a stop by Rad Rides by Troy to check if its possible to come look either between these events or afterward.

Are there any Shops, part companys, car museums and such on these route that are worth a stop?

We are looking for car stuff and other fun places (mainly cars)

Any help is much appriciated !
Maybe there are some cool cars from members on here that has been fun to look at also in that area

PS: We are not afraid of the miles (if something is far from our goal..we are used to drive far here in Norway )

i have been going to the goodguys show in columbus ohio for the last few years and it has gotton to the point that we book the rooms a year in advance (day we check out we book for the next year) and we are not alone in doing this ...you see the same guys and the same cars in the same hotel lot every year.

so be advised book the rooms soon ......

if you guys have not booked a place to stay - let me know i would be happy to suggest a place or two ( and a couple to avoid)

You'll cruze right through the middle of Indianapolis on the way. I live here and you need to stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. See the museum and pay to go around the track (in a bus... sorry)

Also check out the new John Force museum and new fab/machine shop - it will blow your mind. Here's the address.

Catch Lunch between the museums at Union Jacks. It's a chicago style pizza joint right by the track and it also has a huge display of motorsports stuff. The pizza is great !

There, I burned an entire day for you. My work here is done....

The Air Force Museum is in Dayton, Ohio, 1 hour before you get to Columbus. The museum is 3 large hangars full of historical planes and displays. You could spend a whole day there, it's free except for the IMAX theater.

sure be happy to help- its safe to say that all the hotels are safe ..... between local and state police they seem to be everywhere...... question though .... are you bringing a car that you are putting into the show ?? i ask cause some hotels are more "friendly" to having closed trailers on the property also- most of the people who do bring their cars are more comfortable leaving their cars out when the hotel offers their own security for the weekend (no so much as a people issue but a car issue - trust me when i say that the hotel parking lots end up being a car show all their own.

I also should ask you bringing any younger children - i ask this cause some hotels do offer pools and such - but then again there are some hotels that it would almost be a lost cause trying to sleep considering......well boys will be boys

There is also the Presidents Aircraft hangar that is cool - but you have to register the day before or the first hour the museum is open to get on the list. The tour leaves from the Air Force Museum parking lot via bus. You can literally spend the entire day at these 4 hangars so be ready. There is a cafeteria on-site too - and a huge gift shop.
