Default Wilwood Kit 140-2285-B

I have sent this request to Wilwood but have not heard back yet. Hoping that someone here might be able to help also?

I have a 68 Camaro with drum brakes all the way around (no power assist).
I have the stock 10 bolt 3.08 rear end.
I am looking at the front 4 caliper Disc brake kit 140-2285-B and would like find out answers to the following:
Can I use my current Brake Master Cylinder and Prop Valve?
Which kit do you recommend for the rear disc brakes to go with the front kit I choose and the stock 10 bolt rear end (currently drums)?
I would also like to add power assist to the car and would need to know what size Booster and Master Cylinder valve sizes front and rear I would need?

Thanks
Ray

Ray, Give us a call I have some other questions I would need to ask before making a recommendation.
We deal with Wilwood stuff most every day. I would not suggest running power assist with the Wilwood systems. It can and has been done. But we prefer to run them as Wilwood intended with no power assist. If set up correctly your pedal will have much better feel and will stand the car on end if need be.OK maybe thats a little bit of exazeration...LOL
Plus we can give you a much better deal than buying direct.
Tim

Hey Tim, is your recommendation specific to this kit or Wilwood in general? I've never heard this before so I'm curious...

Tim is correct that Wilwood brakes were designed as manual brakes. We sell a ton of power set ups too though and they work just fine long as you properly spec the master. That is exactly why Wilwood makes multiple piston sizes. Some people still do not like the feel of manual brakes, I run them on all my personal cars, but some people are used to their hyper boosted late models and want that feel. For those, we do power brakes.

As for your rear kit Ray, you can do the 12.2" rear kit and the 11" front kit and still run your rallies.

No, not specific to this kit. Wilwood has engineered there systems to be used as a manual brake set up.

In my opinion the kit listed above was designed for a upgrade/ conversion for a front only swap. The reason I say this is as Frank stated above the front kit uses a rotor size of 10.75 the smallest rear kit rotor size is 12.88 . I personally don't care for a larger rear rotor than the front. But, If the intent is to run a 4 wheel disc brake and 15" wheels this would be the correct choice. I would personally like to see the fronts to be a little larger.

Tim, a couple months ago Wilwood introduced 11" front kits that fit 15" wheels and rears rotors are 12.19". Still a 1.19" difference but not as dramatic as 10.75" to 12.88". Like you I prefer a larger rotor on the front also, but with 15s, this is the best we can do.

Here are the two kits you need.

New 140-2129 in optiona Drilled and Slotted red

New 140-9315 (stagger shock) in optional Drilled and Slotted red

Our Prodigy Customs Total Car G Machine package with power brake Option, with optional Drilled and Slotted and Red optons.
