That's crazy, did you notice the display for the Packard. I think those are rented poles and chain and a rented piece of carpet. Car is cool, but sad effort on the presentation!

Hard to tell with just exterior shots. With this kind of group - you will need to see the details to pick a winner. Burton's 34 has some interesting color combos - while the phaeton has some big names behind it, but too much bling on the outside with the spears imo.... I pick the 34.

[QUOTE=96z28ss;271925]What would the politics be? Painted pic on website? They weren't finished pics.[/QUOTE

Yeah. I think on the other post I started Eric (HWY NOVA) posted some rules. I think you can show it in metal but no painted pics. I think that truck has been done for a long time. If it's the same truck? I saw it on there website like a year and a half ago. Any how the craftsmanship in that car is rediculse. If it's in the great eight I guess everthinG is OK ?

The Dodge was started in 2003 it has been painted for well over a year but was just recently finished. The only original part on the truck is the back window opening and the upper half of the grille shell. Everything else is hand built I have quite few pieces I fabricated on that truck. I worked at SAR for 2.5 yrs and the body work had just begun when I left in NOV 06. There is probably around 30k man hours in the truck. I am glad to see it finished.

30,000 hours

I'm not familiar with the judging rules - do the judges take into account the build process or the amount of custom mods and such, or is it just looks, fit/finish, craftsmanship, engineering, etc. ?

not sure about 30k hours.
Yes they do they look at everything. Steve has on display the bucks that made the fenders and alot of the hand made bucks for the cast parts on the vehicle.

If you have an hour to kill look at the build photos.

Default weak field

Iam not surprised that this year is weak comapred to 2005,2006,2007. The stock market and economy started going down the drain in 2007, which is when you would have had to start your project to compete today. Not too many people felt like spending a million bucks on a ridler contender in 2007. Hopefully succesive years will improve as the economy does and the rebirth of GM and Chrysler. The new technology loooks promising. Ford's new 5.0, and Hotrod mag already featured a 32 rod with their ecoboost twin turbo v6 in it!!

The future still looks bright. can;t wait to see a 66 fastback built with the new 5.0 or ecoboost twin turbo. should be able to get 500 hp easy from that, now just need a 6 speed twinclutch paddleshift. good to go!

ridler 2013 should raise the bar again from troy's "first love' 34 ford
