I hadn't read this thread - but it's the same argument at any "meeting" of car guys.

Personally - I think the GT500/KR LOOKS JUST BAD ASS --- and then I shake my head and think... what a waste of money 'cause they're just pretenders... a base Corvette will spank it all day long.

I agree with Todd... in another 6 months you'll be so sick of seeing the new Camaro that you won't want one anymore. It'll be the new rental car special.

If I was going to gamble real money and try to pick what will be worth $$ in 30 years... I'd pick the GT500KR just because NOBODY is buying them... so just like the classic GT500KR's - they'll be collectible. MAYBE. 'Cause they also might be the new version of the 82 "collector" Vette.... "everybody" bought one and stuck it away - so there's a zillion low millage (butt ugly) 82 Vettes at every auction.

I took my truck in for service today - the Ford dealer must have had 25 Mustangs on his lot - and across the street the Chevy dealer had 6 or 7 new Camaros... The Chrysler lot was closed up and has "consolidated" with the Dodge dealer down the street (shoulda happened 40 years ago). The Ford dealer is also now the Mercury/Lincoln dealer... and you want to see a bunch of ORDINARY overpriced cars just take a look at that line...

Buy whatever you can afford and enjoy the heck out of it.

Better yet - buy an older pickup truck so you can have a parts getter for the classic PT car you're going to build...
