Help identify subframe and rack - Lateral-g Forums

Can anyone help identify what subframe this is? I did a bunch of digging around on the various mfg sites and can't find one that matches. I am starting to guess that it is a custom deal but I'd like to learn more about what I got.

When we bought the car it was advertised as having a "Chassisworks looking subframe". We did not buy it from the guy that originally modified the car so I can't ask him.

Also, now that it's warm out we're starting to put some miles on the car. Turning at low speed is pretty stiff. We are thinking about swapping the manual rack for a power rack. Does anyone know what brand this rack is by looking at it? I can't see any markings on it but I haven't jacked it up and looked underneath and on the backside yet.

I do not think the rails are girthy enough to be a Chassis Works. Motor mount looks like a Martz mount.

Your right. I was looking at the UCA and coil-over mount which is very similar. But the motor mounts and cross member aren't as beefy as the chassis works piece

Thanks for looking guys. Found another pic of the sub and rack.

Been looking into the rack some more. Looks like a Mustang II unit. I attached a pic of one I found that seems to match. Any suggestions on a power version? Are there more specs to look into before buying a unit? Should I be looking into something else?

Looks like some Mustang II IFS "kit" welded to a stock subframe.

Measure the bolt spacing on the rack. If it's 16", it's Mustang II. 15-1/2" is a Mustang rack, hopefully that's what it is. Either way, a power rack should be a direct swap.

I think thats a checkered racing sub frame.Sells his stuff on ebay.

I think you're correct. Looks like what we have. Good eye/memory!

Now I need to put some more miles on it to see how it functions... Anyone on here have experience with this setup?

My friend Bill has one of these under his 67 nova. It drive fine,needs a sway bar & all lot of grinding to make it look nice. It look's like he hand cuts his brackets. A little rough on the edges so plan on finishing out the edges.It's built around mustang II geom. Give it some TLC and it will work .
