anyone use C5 wheels on 1st gen camaro? - Lateral-g Forums

Hey all. I heard of Lateral-g from Camaros.net. Glad to find it. I found a good deal on some C5 ZO6 wheels/tires, but I'm wondering if they will fit my '67 Camaro (basically stock suspension). I don't want to do any mini-tubs or anything like that. I've been searching the web and am getting different answers. Most people asking the question don't have the details on the wheels though either. The guy with the wheels for sale doesn't know much about them other than they are stock C5 ZO6 and the tire size of course. So I looked up the stock details. Here we go: Fronts = 17X9.5 with 54mm offset and 245/45-17 tires. Rears = 18X10.5 with 58mm offset and 275/40-18 tires. Anybody else use C5 ZO6 tires/wheels or know of the difficulties in using them? The tire sizes you've got are for non-ZO6 C5s, the wheel sizes you've got are for ZO6 C5s. ZO6 tire sizes are 265/40-17 and 295/35-18. The 265 front's MAY fit with a spacer, the 295 rears won't fit. Non-ZO6 C5 wheels fit well with bolt-on spacers.

Thanks Mike. I thought the 275 rear tire seemed small for a 10.5 wide wheel. I got the tire sizes from the guy selling them and the wheel info based on his reply that they were stock ZO6 size. I'll quiz him some more and see if I can figure this out. The wheel dimensions are usually forged into the inside of the wheels near the flange, right? Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure they are. The tire sizes will work on a first gen F-body. Maybe they're meant to be ZO6 "style" wheels and they're non-ZO6 sizes, which will work.

I think you're right -- ZO6 style in base car size -- even better. I looked up the base car wheel size and found: Frt = 17X8.5 58mm offset, and RR = 18X9.5 65mm offset. Much better. Also looks like what I want is about 4.75 to 5" backspace on the fronts and 5.5" on the rears based on the set-ups I've seen on other postings. So could be some substantial spacers needed. I assume that will also mean longer studs needed. Anyone pull the studs on the rears? Can that be done without removing the entire axle? Thanks for the help! This site and members are awesome.

NOT spacers, but rather bolt-on adapters. The adapters bolt on to the hubs/axles and the wheels bolt on to the adapters. FWIW, I use 2" on the back and 1.875" on the front of my '68.

Sorry I missed that detail in your previous message. I've never heard of bolt-on adapters. They sound a lot better than spacers. I was a little worried about losing the pilot to react loads against. Where did you get yours from?

These guys can make anything your want: http://www.motorsport-tech.com/ I'd call and ask them for their suggestions re hubcentric, etc.
