I don't suppose you have the means to keep the Saleen and buy this Camaro?
The downside with a nice car like this is all you can do is maintain it. If you mod it, you detract its originality and value. If you drive it a lot then you rack up the miles, again lowering its value. Basically, you pay to hold it. It's only original once and then it becomes another restored car. If you enjoy that, then more power to you. Some people like doing that.
If you get this 2nd gen, as you basically said- you can do what you want, when you want and how you want. Then it becomes one of a kind and unique to you. If it wears out, if you change your mind, etc., then you fix it up. No harm, no foul.
I guess it come down to what you want more.
