Default Opel Kadett C / Chevrolet Chevette

Hi Everyone

I am Walid from Germany. I am about to start a crazy project here. It is about modifying an Opel Kadett C 1977 fitting it with a V6 Engine and upgrading all Systems to match. I am looking for a company that can provide me with a fully independent rear suspension including disc brakes.

Can anybody help??

Many Thanks

Walid

I did race with C Kadett before, i had Omega A IRS in that. And BMW M5 3.6 engine with supercharger You can find old project threads in english

Alltough have to about Kadett own solid axle, it is just fine, suspension geometry works very well. Itīs so easy to make it worse than it is as standard. My advice, if you are aiming max. 250hp and donīt use semislicks etc. Fit disc brakes and Omega A <-89 LSD to Kadett own "big" axle , or Manta / Ascona axle.

And about engine, Assuming that Opels V6? If, why? Unpowerfull engines which are hard / expensive to tune, and manual R25 and R28 trannies that fit with those are absolutely crap.

Default Kadett C project

Hi Mikko,

thanks for the pics and the advice You seem to be a "hardcore" guy ) I am not aiming to race with the car. I want to make it street eligable. So such dramatic actions will not be in. Over and above i want to keep the car as opelish as possible. So i will be using original oel parts as far as I can. I want the IRS for its squat properties I like it when a ca squats everytime you apply the power

Why I am aiming at the V6 Opel engine/ Tansmission? because you get parts for those around each corner here. Even my dealer has promsed to service the car and fix it as normal. I do drive though an Insignia OPC with 325 bhp so I have my fair share of power and do race with the car on the Nürburgring

I will keep you posted about the developments. Merry Christmas and happy new Year for th tim being.

Cheers
Walid

What do you mean by squat properties? My technical english...

Gearbox thing, get Getrag 240 tranny from Manta B 1.8 OHC, bolts on to OHC and newer DOHC and Ecotec engine and if iīve understand correctly to V6 engines also. Thatīs more durable than thos R25/8 boxes and shifst far more better.

I have also built this Manta few years back, stil have it. Thatīs street car (alltough drifted little bit with at some point at comp level, mainly thatwise the rollcage). Itīs with Opel 3.6 12V engine from Irmcsher Senator and Getrag 265 gearbox from Monza. 307hp/418nm.
