Reminds me of when I worked at Western Gear. We cut the 60" gears for cement trucks... you know - the big ones on the barrel... Big azz raw ductile iron castings would come in and I'd set them up on a huge vertical lathe... cut one side and flip 'em and cut the other... then the gear was cut using a big ass vertical broach. So crude...
