Not much of an update - partstaxi finally shipped my center caps, so those should be here in a few days, and I dropped my wheel off to my paint guy. He should get it painted tomorrow, and I plan on taking my current wheel over there Wed night so that he can move over the TPMS sensor and the tire to the newly painted front wheel.

My 90 pound box from Sears finally showed up today - 4 days after it was going to get here! I ordered this cabinet almost 10 days ago! So I spent a few hours assembling my last Gladiator brand cabinet - then put the top on it that I picked up at Lowe's - who price matched an internet deal, they had it for $129, I found it on the web for $79, score! Also - not to self - I ordered this shelf from the Sears store, and they shipped it to my house for free. That was all fine and dandy, but there was a nice sized hole in the box, and both rear panels where dented. If it was the front panel I'd be pissed - but it was the rear. So 10 mins with a hammer and a nice sized piece of wood I knocked the panels back into shape. Besides that it went together pretty smoothly.

I have some florescent recessed lights to put up, I'll put those up some time later. After that I think my garage will be done for awhile.

Well - after running back and forth to my wheel guy like 4 different times this week.. and washing/claybaring/polishing/waxing the car - the car is finally ready for Charlotte Food Lion Autofair...

I'm just glad the car has 4 wheels the same color. I dropped the wheel off on Monday - I picked it up today. My new center caps arrived on Wednesday and I put them on right away... I'll have better pics from the show at the end of the weekend.

LS7 swap, widebody, Z06 parts....

Why not just sell it and buy a real Z06? Wouldnt have been around the same price and have a higher resale value?

The same reason you didn't buy a finished car. The thirty thousand dollar difference means he can build the car the way he wants it, and, not pay the Z-06 insurance rates. I can assume that resale value was not a consideration here primarily and I am concerned with folks who focus on resale value in these times and in this hobby. I never build a car with resale value in mind. That means I am primarily building it for someone else and not for me. If I decide to sell and whomever wants it bad enough agrees to pay my price, then so be it. I can assure you, a lot of work has gone into this dudes car and I tip my hat to him with no questions asked and no second guessing.

The question wasnt meant to be rude to the guy (sorry if I came off that way). I actually like his car. I have an 08 Atomic Orange C6 myself. I was mainly just curious since with a Z06 he would have gotten a aluminum frame, magnesium cradle, less sound deadening, lighter seats, carbon panels, etc. 30K difference new but used difference is around 15-20K.

Ummgamma is right - its my car I do what I want - I am not concerned about the next guy.

I do not like the stiffer suspension of the z06. I have driven a few and well there not so nice on the back....

Also - my car is almost paid off - so why finance another $42,000 when this one is nearly paid off?

Also - I might have been clear as mud - but no LS7 swap, I was joking in that post, lol. Only engine plans are the CNC ported LS3 top end and the edelbrock SC. I may get the LS9 cam - depends on LSA on that the lobes though.

I plan on doing the Widebody kit this winter - and probably the blower 2012 some time.

You also have to realized - all the conversion parts and projects for this car have been bought second hand except for the zr1 wheels - which are for sale, the z06 brakes and 2 z06 center caps. The interior mods - well the OEM stuff blows - so I went aftermarket for most of it. I also shop for the best deal around - for example I pad 300 and 500 for the front fenders - both used, OEM retail is 1700 each! I am doing this on a budget - or I'd have a ZR1 in the garage and my pro-touring Nova which I have built in my head.

Thanks,
Craig
