Unfortunately, you're right.
Revenue generation is becoming the key these day's

Instead of figuring out how to spend less and live within a budget like the rest of us, government would rather find ways to nit-pick and fine us to death!

Our city just installed electronic card reading parking meters!
The ordinance says every vehicle must pay to park.

In days gone by, it was the space that was being rented, period!
If the car ahead of you finished their business early, you could make use of the extra time on the meter.
Many time, I'd be headed out, see someone pulling into the space behind me (with no time on the meter) and tell them to hang on and they can have this one!

No more
Now, if our parking whores catch you entering a space, even if there's time left on the meter, they can, and some will, ticket you because "you" didn't pay to park!

I'm hoping we eventually get this rip off in front of a judge and set a precedent, but I'm not hoping for much around here

Fines, penalties, ticket costs, all rising to "make up" for the shortfall, instead of being fiscally conservative in their spending!

As for the front plates, there are a couple of manufactures that make hidden plate holders for the Corvette. Slide away frames, and such.
I'll bet there's something out there for our cars as well.
If not, this might be an opportunity knocking
