Default ? about coil springs and ride height

Car is 71 chevelle 475 BBC,4l80,12 bolt-4.10s
How do you pick them?
Ive got motor and trans and rear installed surely not for the final time but they are installed.
Im using b-body 2"drop spindle in front cause I already have everything and am going to be changing stock rear control arms out for aftermarket ones soon.
Coilovers are not in my budget!!!
Im going to use c5 wheels 17 and 18's
The spindle setup will lower the car some and here lies the problem im faced with.
I wont know what springs to use front and rear till i put the spindles on, dont want the rear jacked up anymore I would like a nice low stance but want to drive it everywhere so cant go to low.

How did you decide which springs to use?
Is it trial and error?

Ive been here a little while and read alot of your posts and build threads and have seen guys run 1000lb front springs and 550lb front springs.Id rather not have to keep buying different ones till I find what I like so I guess im asking for opinions!
Hope I have included enough info and asked the right questions.
Thanks for the help
