Tommy, my car had a vinyl roof. The a pillars are rotted through in a few small spots.

Tommy, my car had a vinyl roof. The a pillars are rotted through in a few small spots.

The donor roof might be your best option depending on the extent of damage to the A-pillars. Be forewarned that a roof transplant is a large effort compared to just a skin. You will need to weld in braces at the door mount upper area just under the steel dash from side to side. You will also need to do this at the rear near the package tray. Cross brace these two before cutting the structure loose to prevent the side to side braces from altering the width when you cut it loose.

Thanks for the tips Tommy. I am on the fence about whole roof vs skin. I know it will take a huge effort to do the full meal deal but I think the end result in my case may be worth it. I'll know more after I move the car and get the glass out and front clip off.
