Need imput on garage lifts - Lateral-g Forums

well, I am out of room at the house with all of the kid stuff, my wife's crap and I will soon have my 69 back.

What lift would you use? Superlift is made in the US. There are some others that are China made...about $500 less.

Does anyone have any expierence with any of these products?

Payton- I have also been looking for a similar deal.
When we build our house, it will have to have the garage on the second floor due to possible flooding from storm surge. I was thinking about modifying an existing lift to pop the car up on floor 2 and drive it off.

That is not going to work for a lot of reasons; I am going to fabricate my own from scratch, but what I learned from my search was that they are about all the same for a given price range. I was looking for a lot of details but never got very deep info... So I went back to ship weight and did some basic math based on common materials and so forth. You would be surprised how much difference there is in weight between one and the next.

As a mechanical in-jan-eer, I know that weight is not everything, but at the same time, I can certainly spot a trend. When they are made out of mild steel, there are a lot of conclusions that can be drawn from the amount of mass in the box.

Not science- let the flames begin.

By the way, my lift is going to be fabricated in China and I am 100% OK with that. It is not the country of origin that makes the difference, it is the design and execution.

I have had a Backyard Buddy lift for about 7 years and it is fine. Get the 220 volt model if you can so it will lift faster. The way it is built there are basically no welds to depend on. Most pins etc pass through a drilled or punched hole. Just good design thought I think.

Look into Eagle Lifts... American made(I beleive) and great prices which include FREE shipping which is huge considering how expensive truck freight would be...

I too am researching and am leaning towards Eagle--Hot rod Mag has them at about 2300.00 with shipping. There are cheaper ones on Americaspride.com but I heard good things about Eagle. I love teh BYB that Clil mentioned, but it is over 4K.

You know, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought to myself "Now why would you want to lift your garage?". Better judgement then came to me in a dream and I decided to let you know what I thought when I saw the title. I think you'll be happy with whatever lift you get, but I've heard good things about Eagle lifts.

The superlift was about $2500 shipped. It had the punched holes instead of the welded stops.

One of my friends has one with the welded stops. I guess that was what I was refering to when I said "made in China." It seems that the imports have welded stops and the US made have the punched holes.

I will check out Eagle as well.

We've used Benwell and Rotory and had very good luck with them the rotory is a 7'000 and will lift my crewcab with no problem , its a good idea to get one that will lift more than you plan on just in case, as long as you can afford it
